The Lopez Museum and Library presents Pauses of Possibility, works birthed out of personal narratives or moments of quiet, amplified, and translated into large-scale works and tangible sculptural pieces.  Marina Cruz, Kara de Dios, Elaine Navas and Pam Yan Santos create memory-stills and fragments of introspection. From the Lopez Museum and Library’s collection, works by Nena Saguil, Anita Magsaysay-Ho, Pacita Abad and select pieces by Juan Luna and Felix Resurreccion Hidalgo are interspersed and displayed with the institution’s Rizaliana collection.  Pauses of Possibility opens to the public on 20 February and runs until 17 June 2017.

Tie A String Around the World is currently on exhibit at the Jorge B. Vargas Museum and Filipiniana Research Center. This homecoming re-stages the Philippines’ official exhibition at the Venice Art Biennale in 2015, fifty-one years after its first national participation in 1964. It presents the works of Manuel Conde, Carlos “Botong” Francisco, Manny Montelibano, and Jose Tence Ruiz; and a documentation of the collateral initiations of David Medalla in collaboration with Adam Nankervis. Objects that broaden the discourse on worldmaking, such as maps and the lingling-o, as discussed in the Pavilion catalogue will also be exhibited.

See #LUZ@90 Curated by Ambeth R. Ocampo at the Ateneo Art Gallery. The exhibition celebrates the 90th birth anniversary of Arturo R. Luz, National Artist for Visual Arts through featuring his recent and early works. Selected works featured in the exhibit will form part of the Ambeth R. Ocampo bequest to the Ateneo de Manila University. See also Lines: Pictures and Poems by Jose Garcia Villa, a selection of his work as a visual artist. In many cases, it illustrates the marriage of the visual arts and poetry. The materials on display are taken from the Jose Garcia Villa collection, donated to the Ateneo de Manila University by the Literary Estate of Jose Garcia Villa in 2012 and deposited at the Rizal Library. Also featured are Reflections: AAG in Review, an exhibit that will look back at the AAG collection and the space as it was half a century ago and Ligalig, exhibit on the social realist works in AAG collection.
