In April 2020, contemporary art powerhouse, König Galerie, launched König Digital, a virtual gallery space for creating experiences online, presenting solo shows by new media artists such as Manuel Rossner and Thomas Webb. In March 2021, the gallery held its first NFT auction as part of the group show THE ARTIST IS ONLINE, which was on view at KÖNIG in Decentraland.
These digital venues join the gallery’s roster of imaginative physical spaces at vibrant art hubs, from their original base of a former church in Berlin, to a renovated underground car park in London, to the MCM retail spaces in Tokyo, and Seoul.
Listen as the gallery’s founder, Johann König, talks to ArtFairPH/ Projects curator, Chris Fussner, on how to show great art in two realms, from IRL to URL.
