Luzviminda is an archive of Philippine photography under development at Pioneer Studios. Their main interests are in photographs that correspond to important moments in Philippine history, represent the history of Philippine photography, unique personal photo-based works, and of the world at large by Filipino photo practitioners.
JPaul Manzanilla (Independent Researcher)
JPaul S. Manzanilla finished his PhD in Southeast Asian Studies at the National University of Singapore focusing on the history of photography in the Philippines. In his dissertation, he examined the optical unconscious in American colonial era photographs; the problem of place in postwar newspaper and magazine pictures; the interrelationship of photography, revolution, and historical consciousness in protest demonstration photos; and the crisis of witnessing in the documentary photographs of the drug war. He has engaged in research and presented papers at conferences in the Philippines, India, the United Kingdom, Vietnam, Canada, the UnitedStates, and Thailand. He would be happy to contribute to building a photography and visual culture archive in the country
