About Cartellino

Cartellino was established in 2019 as an online-only platform, digest, and shop. Its name comes from the Italian term for “little paper,” a marker in early Renaissance paintings containing key details about an artwork, such as the artist’s signature and subject’s name. Now with a physical space, Cartellino remains something similar: a supplement for those looking to learn and engage with contemporary art. We draw attention to the little parts, a nugget of context, a nuanced response, to effect a thoughtful, timely nudge. We seek to do more, do better, as we showcase what Asian contemporary art can offer and then offer something back.
