About Cayón
Established in 2005, Cayón specializes in mid-century and contemporary art with a focus on spatial relations and conceptual themes. The gallery emphasizes movements like Minimalism, Cinetic Art, Neo-Conceptual Art, and Geometry, integrating mediums such as video and performance art. Currently holding four spaces in Madrid, Menorca, and Manila, the gallery creates dialogues between established and emerging artists, public spaces, and visual perception. Cayón plays a key role in preserving the legacies of Spanish mid-century masters like Joan Miró, Pablo Palazuelo, and Juan Giralt, while also promoting contemporary Spanish and international artists. Notable exhibitions have included works by Mel Bochner, Carlos Cruz-Diez, Jesús Rafael Soto, and Stanley Whitney. In 2017, Cayón expanded to Manila, fostering cultural exchange and rediscovering artists like Alfonso Ossorio and Fernando Zóbel. The gallery’s Menorca space, spanning over 1,200 m², hosts major annual exhibitions, featuring artists like Joan Miró and Joel Shapiro. In 2024, it will present a solo show by Jesús Rafael Soto.
