About Core Contemporary Art
Core Contemporary Art, founded by Scarlette Lee, has swiftly become a leading force in contemporary Malaysian art since the establishment of Core Design Gallery in 2010. Lee, with her deep understanding of the Malaysian art scene, has played a pivotal role in nurturing emerging and mid-career artists, guiding them to international prominence. Under her leadership, Core Design Gallery has earned widespread recognition for showcasing cutting-edge Malaysian contemporary art, participating in renowned art fairs across Taiwan, China, Thailand, and Korea. Additionally, the gallery has curated prestigious exhibitions at Malaysia’s National Art Gallery, further solidifying its reputation as a key player in the art world. In 2023, Core Contemporary Art was launched as a subsidiary of Core Design Gallery, marking a bold step toward international expansion. This new initiative seeks to engage a global audience through innovative curatorial projects that delve into pressing social and cultural issues. The gallery’s first international endeavor was a solo exhibition by a mid-career Malaysian artist at Art Solo Taipei, exploring the complexities of contemporary global transformations. Core Contemporary Art continues to foster meaningful collaborations with artists and curators from around the world, creating a dynamic platform for dialogue and reflection through thought-provoking exhibitions.
