FOTOMOTOPH

Curated by Cocoy Lumbao

About the Exhibition

At this year’s Art Fair, Fotomoto presents a compelling selection of works from both returning artists and new discoveries, highlighting photography’s ongoing impact and role in contemporary art. In an age where nearly everyone can take a photograph, Fotomoto continues to foster critical dialogue through a series of exhibitions and public events, emphasizing photography’s place as fine art. The show explores key concepts intrinsic to the medium—such as representation, documentation, truth, fiction, ambiguity, autobiography, and the intersection of art and technology.

Through a diverse range of works by both established and emerging artists, this exhibition representing ArtFairPH’s Photography section reinforces Fotomoto’s position as the Philippines’ leading platform for exploring the latest trends and developments in contemporary photography. By showcasing artists who challenge the boundaries of the medium and offer fresh perspectives, Fotomoto affirms its vital role in shaping the local art scene, influencing market trends, and enriching the visual and cultural landscape of the region.

The title Kuhâ aptly captures the unique Filipino perspective and sensibility in photography, as it has become the colloquial term for anyone who sets out to capture images in these islands.

The section features works by Tom Epperson, Neal Oshima, Jason Quibilan, Veejay Villafranca, Aeson Baldevia, Artu Nepomuceno, Benjo Campomanes, Bimpoman, Geloy Concepcion, Johann Guasch, Pia Mercado, Colin Dancel, and Denise Weldon.
