New Stories from CANVAS: Shipwrecked and Moon Rising
CANVAS presents artworks for two new children’s books: “Shipwrecked” by Becky Bravo with artworks by Ricky Ambagan; and “Moon Rising” by Ysa...
CANVAS is a non-profit organization that works with some of the country’s best artists and writers to publish – and give away – children’s books to kids in poor communities all over the country. It runs a literacy campaign called 1 Million Books for One Million Filipino Children. Over the past 15 years, CANVAS has mounted dozens of art exhibitions and projects under its Art for Development program, including public artworks and artist-in-residence initiatives.
CANVAS is now moving forward with plans to set up the “Tumba-Tumba Children’s Museum of Philippine Art” on a 1 hectare piece of raw land in Ibaan, Batangas. Over the past few years, CANVAS has been mounting mini and pocket museums both to refine its curatorial concept and develop its capacity for mounting museum exhibitions, as well as to provide the public and potential supporters with concrete and tangible demonstrations of what they can expect in our children’s museum of Philippine Art.
