About THE METRO GALLERY
Founded by Irene Sarmiento Cometa in 1991 and located in San Juan City, Metro Gallery has been a consistent hotspot for contemporary art. It is particularly known for its Salut series, an annual group show featuring artists of all stripes celebrating the influence of the Old Masters in their works. Aside from its exhibiting space, Metro Gallery has also held shows at ArtistSpace (Ayala Museum), Alliance de Française, and Art in the Park, among others.
In 2020, it joined the Art Fair Philippines for the first time, with a successful group show that contemplated the evocative forms of natural history. For its 2021 edition, Metro Gallery seeks to explore the interstices of conflict within the purview of the pandemic in the exhibition, Versus, headlined by Adrian Evangelista, Dino Gabito, Pancho Francisco, Josue Mangrobang Jr., Omar Wooop Ramos, and Crystal Tranquilino.
