About METRO Gallery
Metro Gallery, a well-established art space in San Juan City, was founded by Irene Sarmiento Cometa in 1991. Initially known for showcasing the works of senior artists, it quickly expanded to feature both emerging and mid-career practitioners. The gallery is notable for its series of exhibitions called Salut, started in 2010, which pays tribute to the Old Masters of the Western canon. In recent years, Metro Gallery has shifted its focus to promoting young talent through well-curated exhibitions that foster a relaxed and congenial atmosphere. The gallery has also embraced digital platforms to expand its reach to an international audience. Now in its third decade, Metro Gallery remains at the forefront of Philippine contemporary art, continually strengthening its exhibition line-up and reaching out to partners for meaningful collaborations
