In the Philippines and Southeast Asian region, the extreme humidity and heat pose particular challenges to the care of art and other cultural materials. Museums that are tasked with the preservation of collections are forced to take intensive measures to control storage and gallery conditions through specialized HVAC systems and dedicated preservation specialists –but what can be done on a domestic level?

This talk discusses common types of damage in homes encountered by the Lopez Museum and Library’s Conservation Center, particularly in relation to works on paper. It aims to assist custodians with the maintenance of collections by deepening their understanding of how damage occurs, what measures can be done for preventive care, and when to call a conservator.

Moderated by Boots Herrera

This talk is made possible with special participation of the López Museum & Library.
